Geographical Location

The closest neighbours o Cuba are: Haiti – in 77 kilometres to the east; Maxico – 210 kilometres to the west; Florida – 180 kilometres to the north; and Jamaica – 140 kilometres to the south.
Climate
There is a temperate subtropical climate with precise seasons: rain season – from May to October, and dry season – from November to April. The average environmental humidity is about 80%. The average atmospheric precipitates are 1500mm.
December and January are the most cold and dry months. The highest temperature was registered in July and August.
The temperature of coastal waters varies from 25-28 degrees centigrade – ideal conditions to have a rest and for diving.
Territory
Total area of the archipelago is 110922 square kilometres. It includes: Cuba, Youth Island (Isla de la Juventud) and 4195 small bordering islands.
The overall length of Cuba is 1250 km from San Antonio cape (Pinar del Rio province) to Kamados cape (Guantanamo province). The largest width is 191 km from Tararakos beach to Kamaron Grande cape. The least width is 31 km between Rio and Mahana bays (Havana province).
Administrative Division
From the West to the East there are 14 Cuban provinces: Pinar del Rio, Havana (Habana- spanish), Havana City (Ciudad de La Habana), Mantansas (Mantanzas), Sienfuegos (Cienfuego), Villa Klara (Villa Clara), Sancti Spiritus, Siego de Avila (Ciego de Avila), Kamaguey (Camaguey), Las Tunas, Olgin (Holguin), Granma, Santiago de Cuba and Guantanamo. The Youth Island has the status of the special municipal county.
Population and Language
There are more than 11 millions inhabitants on Cuba. The official language is Spanish. But the most part of residents know English well. You may meet Cubans speaking Russian, French, Italian and German.
Hymn, National Emblem and Flag
The symbolism of the Rupublic of Cuba is the same as it was for many years: the flag of lonely star, the Hymn of Bayamo and the National Emblem with royal palm. Cuban flag has a right-angled form with rotational 3 blue and 2 white stripes. The red isosceles triangle symbolizes implanted ideals of freedom, equality and brotherhood.
And the lonely star in the center conveys necessary unity of nation and complete freedom.
The National Emblem has its own language: the sun in the middle shows a strategical location of Cuba. There are blue and white stripes on the Emplem and typical country landscape with royal palm. Oaken and bay leaves are the expression of power and trust. Ohrygian cap with white star in the center expresses the love of Cubans to freedom.
