Cayo Coco is the forth largest island in Cuba. It is situated in Atlantic Ocean opposite to Ciego de Avila province and it joins to the main island by 20km road. This artificial made road goes through Bahia de Perros bay. Such roads join Cayo Coco with another islands: Cayo Guillermo and Cayo Romana.

Cayo Coco is the most isolated island in Cuba and it is reserved zone. There is untouchable by men nature in Cayo Coco. The inner part of the island are jungles – a home for thousands of birds, including pelicans, flamingos and white bird Coco which gave the name to the island.

More than 26km of beaches are the best place for aquatics. There is no airport in Cayo Coco but the closest one is situated in Ciego de Avila city – not far from the island.

The name of the island has nothing with coconuts. It was named in honour of the bird – Coco. In ancient Egypt people worshiped to Coco bird. But it seems that nowadays another bird becomes more and more popular. It is Pink Flamingo. There are 30.000 flamingos in Cayo Coco. The most beautiful beach is called “Flamingo Beach”.
